  1. My problems during this event are some things the minister mentioned in her speech. The saying “Do not imprison yourself by the limitations of others” comes to mind in this problem. The minister stated that people should dream about what is most possible for the government to do. that is in my opinion wrong as art is about dreaming the impossible and making it possible. Also she said that you would expect something simple from a 7 year old yet something more competent from a student in sixth-form.Being 11 years old I take exception to this because it is not completely true; it depends on the opportunities of the children. You cannot generalise.

  2. I think what we need to understand is that the Cultural Policy provides the overall direction for where ‘culture’ has to go. It is not detailing either the strategies or the programmes that need to be devised to support the policy. Fr Peter identified this very clearly during the launch of the consultation process. First there needs to be buy-in into the policy – the detail of what is going to be done, when, and by whom, will come later.

  3. I hope this policy will end up promoting, encouraging and helping those who are creating digital art and the new media, not just companies.

It is a good start, I think.

  4. Dear All,

I realy cant understand the reason or purpose of all this, since Drama, & Art in Church schools ( as far as I know)are not funded by the Gov, but have to rely on the Parent’s donations. Having said that, is there art & drama in Gov schools? If yes, then why is so different in Church schools?
